In Ngaju Dayak belief, there is a spirit in the form of a dog called BAHUTAI. It is said that this BAHUTAI can be kept by someone on the condition that he must care for and feed this dog. If the owner has a feeling of anger or resentment with another person then he can send his pet BAHUTAI to attack that person and his family.


There are 4 types of Bahutai:
Striped Bahutai
Black Bahutai
White Bahutai
Bahutai Gabuk

Of these four BAHUTAI, BAHUTAI BELANG is the most vicious and can be ordered to kill someone. And if the owner neglects to feed his BAHUTAI then, this BAHUTAI can strike back at the owner and his family.

Each BAHUTAI has a name, by knowing the name one can call this BAHUTAI.

Function :
- Active Protection (attack)
- Passive Protection (Defense)

In the Amurwa Bhumi system, Aman, will not attack the owner like the myth is because of the conjuration system, so you and your spirit become like friends.
